Public meeting on youth homelessness project

There are more than 100 homeless or at-risk youth in the Saint John area. They are either living on the street, or in unsafe unstable places. A working group of the Greater Saint John Homelessness Steering Committee is proposing to build an emergency housing facility for these youth, and provide them with the right supports to get them permanently housed and their lives back on track. The Anglican Church is prepared to donate the old site of the St. James Church on Broad St. for use as a housing facility for youth. We want your input on this proposed project. There will be a public meeting at St. John the Baptist/King Edward School June 28, 2011, 7 pm. Area residents, businesses and organizations are invited to hear about the proposed project and provide feedback and ask questions. Please contact Mark Leger at the Human Development Council for more information.
